    Flat road marathons?

Curiosity is getting the better of me and I fancy knowing what kind of time I would get for a road marathon? Never done a road race before and won't be making a habit of it but think I may as well have a go.

I want to find a flat and reasonably quiet one so I can just get round in a decent time without dodging charity bears or too many people.

    Can anyone recommend one?

never run a mara meself, but know plenty of people who never stop going on about them

if you want quiet and flat, then Mablethorpe (Sept) is the one

if you don't mind a bit more undulating, but still very quiet then Anglesey (also Sept) is supposed to be good

a lot of Southern types swear by Abingdon (Oct) bit busier, and be aware that fills up early...

best full stop though is White Peak (May) but that's full this year, so you'd have to wait til 2009...

    Cheers for that!

Reckon Mablethorpe is looking good for a road race. Flat, country lanes not too far away. Can then get rid of the itch to know how fast (or slow) I am on roads.
