    Bampot is a good one.

The anglicised version of the Scottish word bawbag was popular on the forum a few weeks ago.

I thought it was pronounced barmpot. It's another word for a lunatic but in a light hearted sort of way.

    Re: Words....

When I was young free and single and I used to go out partying, me and some friends made up a new word (at around 10am the next morning, having not been to bed yet).

It was "noghe" and we decided it meant "to make up new words".

    #pointless post number 356

Anyway I wonder if bampot is a newly 'noghed' word

    Re: Words....

barmpot n someone who is clumsily idiotic. As with a lot of our less-than-complimentary words, it isn't really offensive - it's used more in goading fun than anything else. It has a derivation similar to that of barmy.

similar ish then but not the same......interesting!

    What about Wazzock?

According to Wikipedia 'Wazzock is a word that is mainly used in the United Kingdom to describe someone who has done an idiotic thing.'

Any ideas / suggestions on its origins?
