    New York City Marathon

    I'm in!!!!!!!

My name is on the website as accepted. Last time I tried to enter they put me in the ballot despite my qualifying performances for guranteed entry.

Many years ago (as a twentysomething 100% cyclist not even an occasional runner) I announced I would run London and New YOrk marathons before I was 40.

So this year was my last chance as I'm turning 40 next March.

Am very excited. Anyone got any useful tips for getting the most out of a short stay in NYC?

The time has come. I'm off tomorrow to the old US of A.

Have hardly trained though so not expecting to even beat 3hours.
I wonder how many pages long the OMM thread will be by the time i return?

Have a good run! Keep nice and warm as I think they've forecast cold weather. It can get a bit nippy when you're waiting on Staten Island. Try out the world's longest urinal while you're waiting!
    It's a great marathon.

enjoy it, a great race and great atmosphere too. I remember the worlds longest urinal at Staten Island too !

Don't get too complacent when you enter Central Park, some deceptive little climbs in there when your legs are knackered.

If you have time, nip up to Harlem and listen to one of the gospel choirs, great stuff for a soul music lover like myself.

    Enjoy and good luck

Century 21 opposite Ground Zero is the place for bargains, esp. clothes.

    Good luck for the run!
