    Talking Lake District

    What races does anybody know of in the Lake District - preferably near-(ish) keswick.

    in the rest of May alone there are Latrigg (wed 14th),Fairfield horseshoe(sat 17th),Helvelyn(sun 25th) and two riggs (tue 27th) the list goes on and on throughout the year.Do you not have the FRA Handbook?

    I dont have the fra handbook no. How do ya get one? I dont wana be goin for any races in may or june bacasue i dont feel im fit enough yet and also ive got my a-levels. But i will still google all the races u said. Ta gazj1979

    You get an FRA Handbook/calendar by joining the FRA.

    The next three months races are posted here.

    Join the FRA and they send you a handbook, all the details for all the races are in there!

    Races after june...

    Skiddaw 9m/2700', start is from Fitz Park in keswick -july 6th

    Lords Seat 5m/1400', evening race -Wednesday 9th july (probably not for those who's legs have done Skiddaw)

    Rydal Round 9m/3000' -July 31st, nr Ambleside

    Borrowdale 17m/6500' -August 2nd

    Steel Fell 3m/1115' evening race again -Wednesday August 6th

    or for those who like their fell races without fells, Round Latrigg 5.5m/800', again from Fitz Park -August 20th

    online calendar currently lists up to end of July

    (a nice gentle one to start you off might be Bampton Village on July 13th - 5.5M/800ft ascent)

    turning to August:

    stevenh's suggestion of Round Latrigg would be another good one to start with.

    Aug.23rd - Weasdale Horseshoe (8M/2000ft) would be a "step up"

    by September I expect you'll've joined the FRA (only £12) and got your own calendar...
