    Moel Eilio

2nd counter of the 2008 British Champs this weekend.

    Many doing it?

Horrificly runnable route, not looking forwards to it at all. Fast course. The steep descent from Foel Goch slopes left so any weak left ankles will be found out. The final climb up Cynghorion just goes on and on, even tonight I was tricked into thinking I could see the top. Once down the steep descent it's not over, there's a good mile or 2 run out along tracks with a few slight inclines to hurt some more.

Think the plan is to nominate a pub for the evening drinks, the Dolbadarn in Llanberis, later on in the evening for those staying in the area. There's nothing special planned, no food, band etc, but it's just somewhere for people to get some beers in and meet up. The landlord is laying on extra staff to cope, so it'd be good if people could head there to make it worth while for him.

I thought there'd already been a thread started for this but I can't find it. Puzzled that people don't seem to be making enquiries about it? Is anyone coming to this? Must be the A55 traffic that's putting them all off!

I'm running, and IainR has provided good news and bad news!
Good news - I like runnable
Bad news - I have a weak left ankle

Let's hope the two cancel each other out

Anne and I will be there. Anne's definitely running, and if I can find a sheep pen to contain the kids (probably should be a goat pen I guess) then I might have a trot round - otherwise I'm watching.

I assume you're running it, Welsh Harrier?

I'm not sure there is a set way, depends on what you prefer. For some straight direct and steep may be better for other searching out the less steep ground to the RHS but slightly longer, may be quicker. If it's clagged in and alone head rightish across the slope once you leave the style and slowly swing around so you avoid the really steep ground. There's no cliffs but there's some rockier sections if you went straigh off.

Last night I recced the more gradual descent. Not sure it's quicker though as it is a bit longer.

At the bottom I reckon its best to hit the trod through the middle of the bog and also don't go too far R and lose too much height in crossing the river.

Just let yourself go! That's what I'll be doing - various locals including Iain have suggested going a bit rightish might be useful but I've tried it and I think I'll stick to a more direct line.

    See you there Bill!
