    Route Off Scafell

Looking for some top tips about the best way off the TOP of Scafell heading down into Wasdale.
I find the green route on this map loose and slow.
Is there a grassier/easier route if I take the Blue route?

I know about the scree runs etc further down the descent, but is there a way to avoid the scree/loose stuff higher up?

In bad vis I've taken a grassy line in pretty much a straight line from the summit as far out as Black Crag and then picked up a trod near the edge round to the screes. It was long, but easy running. I should imagine a good line might well exist where your blue line is, but you'd want good visibility to pick the best line without going as far out as I did.

I took the green route when I recce'd the other week & thought it was a pretty good way down to be honest. When I've descended further to the right in the past it's been much worse, although there could be a better line somewhere for all I know. What I wasn't expecting was to be able to follow a path all the way down to the top of the lower scree section - but the path's there, & all runnable.

I have tried various routes over the years but on my BG used the green route - a bit rocky to start but then it flattens out on really easy grass running and if you stay on this path it continues missing the loose scree runs and drops you on at a stile and straight into the CP. After 40ish miles I found the route great and quick easy running which didn't take much out of the legs - very important at this stage of a BG
