A pigeon escaping from the grip of a sparrowhawk, on the canal towpath in Loughborough. I'm not sure if it was me trundling along on my bicycle that caused the sparrowhawk to lose its meal.

Then after returning home, I was able to watch the local buzzard going up on a thermal until it was barely visible high up in the sky.
In his lifetime he suffered from unreality, as do so many Englishmen.

That reminds me, thanks AK. I've had a few highlights recently.

Firstly, a booming bittern at St Aiden's near Leeds. It's the first time I've heard these, and the first time I've seen black necked grebes.

Then a female sparrowhawk slowly killing a pigeon at Consall Woods, on the way back from Mrs Noel doing the Wrekin race. We watched it for about 5 minutes, it was on the path in front of us, but the pigeon kept flapping despite the sparrowhawk ripping lumps out of it. A bit grizzly, but then nature often is.

I put my trail camera up in the forestry beside the village last week and retrieved it today, peanuts and maize sprinkled about as bait. I wanted to see what was about and if the pine martens were still there.
Plenty of pine marten pics, but don’t know if it was the same one or more, pair of roe deer, fox and hundreds of mice!
Don't roll with a pig in poo. You get covered in poo and the pig likes it.

    Lovely.

    Keep it quiet.

You don't want Packham turning up!
Visibility good except in Hill Fog
