never seen lizards up ere before! But yr very persuasive comments force me to have no doubt it was a lizard.
    thanks guys

on the subject of wildlife, and being too lazy to trawl through the 137 pages on this thread (for which I apologise)....can anyone recommend a good, comprehensive wildlife book which is just on stuff you find in Derbyshire/High Peak? Don't mind if it includes flora and fauna too, in fact that'd be a bonus.
I can do some of the plants for you, plenty of Tea plants and cloudberries near you. theres even a super rare Bog Billbery( I would have to blindfold you both to take you there though) . There's loads of Lizards in the peak and a few adders if you know where to look, We saw some lizards on last nights race and there was a short eared owl about although I was moving too quick to see it
Theres also a peregrine up nr Black Clough but it's not always on show. Happy to take you both out and show you some.

Yes plenty. They are/were currently nesting on Stanage edge, There use to be two nests in Blackden clough but these were swept away in a landslide about 3 years ago. Saw one on Howden edge earlier this year but no idea where the nest is.

    That's a lovely photo Wharfeego!

I had a wildlife encounter today but unfortunately it was a close encounter between my car and a rabbit...:boohoo: Poor thing...it ran one way and I swerved and then it ran back and went straight underneath. I hate killing things.

On a brighter note, saw a tawny owl and I didn't kill that.

Missus saw hummingbird hawk moth in front garden this afternoon, shouted for me but I'm a deaf old git and missed it!.
Swifts feeding hard in my nest box over the bedroom window. Slow worm population back, best is 9 under the stone. Birds nesting in garden, (but maggies have had the blackbird nest).
Don't roll with a pig in poo. You get covered in poo and the pig likes it.

Grouse - very kind to offer a loan of the wildlife book, I'll take you up on that please. I know most of the Glossopdale gang, and my other half is in the club so sees them most Tuesdays. either that or give me a shout if yr in Glossop sometime

IDP -yes please to the tour of bog billberries and peregrine sites sometime, a very generous offer which we'd both thoroughly enjoy
