Stef and I ran on Ilkley Moor yesterday and saw curlew, lapwing, skylark, snipe, mipit, golden plover plus our first wheatear of spring. Last night we had a walk from Barden Bridge up to the Strid Woods and saw three deer, a pair of mandarin and first common sandpiper. No roding woodcock or sand martins though

2 curlews yesterday morning in the pouring rain climbing up Beacon Hill outside Llangunllo in mid Wales (my morning run while staying with friends), then later 8 buzzards and 2 red kites while out walking. Not bad!

Could see, what I initially took to be a red kite, diving down to intercept another, it was only when they clashed I could see it was a pair of osprey. Absolutely stunning, and what a show they put on, twisting, turning upside down claws clenched having a right old dingdong, eventually disappearing down the valley, only for another to glide overhead, just stood there gobsmacked.

Just had a very quick blast out on my bike and had a great view of a stoat slinking across the road. It stopped to have a look at me before jumping up onto the bank and disappearing in the hedge.

Where in Mid Wales were you? We were down there over the weekend and the Mrs went to see the breeding pair at the Dyfi Osprey Project. It may have been the same pair courting.
