The Heather and Grass Burning Code says this...

"Fire has been used by land managers for many thousands of years. When used with skill and understanding, it can benefit agriculture, game birds and wildlife".

So check out this and see that grouse shooting isn't all good for our upland environments as the grouse 'industry' says it is...

Caveats like "when used with skill and understanding" make statements largely meaningless.

And the good news is that the hen harrier known as Highlander that went missing from forest of Bowland area in April 2016, has reappeared.
Obviously the shooting community carried the blame for another "disappearing harrier" despite no evidence they were responsible.

But now the RSPB believe the bird has returned and it was a tracking tag failure after all!

Whilst waiting for the Lambs Longer Leggers, a large hare appeared out of the mist and came within 5 metres of me as I stood behind a wall. I got a really good close up view of it. Unfortunately it wasn't a white one.

A compilation of wildlife clips that I've built up over the last couple of years.
See fell running foxes and badgers, whirligig beetles, stoats and rodents, all doubling their normal fast pace in life.
I had a lot of fun editing, no apologies for the mad music, I love it, and if you don't like then that's fine by me.

    Wild Shots

I went hare hunting this morning...with my camera of course.

Not sure what the music is. Got it from Youtube's music library of free-to-use music. There's no copyright problems.
Had fun making the little film but it hasn't gone down well at all.
    Not surprised really.

How do you mean it hasn't gone down well Wharfeego? My family really enjoyed it. A few minutes ago it had 66 views. Part of the problem with the forum (which to me is a million miles better than the facebook one)is the big decline in users. Apparently there are only 349 active users on here, a fraction of what there used to be. Nowadays big races happen and barely get a mention on here. Less users = less views.

Carry on snapping and filming, that's an order!
