I did it as part of a relay team last year (it was fab - thoroughly recommended btw) but entered AGES in advance

it usually pretty much fills up, and I don't think EOD is "officially" catered for, but if you try contacting the race organisers to let them know you want to turn up, I suspect they will help you:

Anyone else done this race? Where does it take place and what's the distance?
Just watched some of it on Countryfile....looks like one for the diary!

it starts/finishes in Llanwrtyd Wells (in mid-Wales, on A483 between Builth Wells and Llandovery) in a hidden gem of an area.

the full race is 22M, but you can do it as a 3-person relay team

it's probably the best race I've ever done - the atmosphere, the organisation, the finish area... and running against horses rocks!

Hi , I've taken the plunge and entered the mvh this year . Hopefully I'll get through the training without falling to bits .
The info on the race is very limited when searching the net . Please can anyone answer the following questions for me ?
    1) What is the approx road / fell ratio ?
    2) What is approx climb assuming it's back to 22 miles this year ?
    3) If I wear Inov-8 x-talon fell shoes , are these adequate for the varied terrain ?
    4) Are there water stops en-route ?(or troughs , I dont mind sharing with shergar's nephew).

Any other help much appreciated . Cheers .
I'm not going down that and you can't make me.......

I've not run it, but done loads of other events there and probably been over all the course many times. I would think trail shoes would do, bound to be some forestry tracks and I doubt a great deal of open fell.
Expect you have accommodation sorted, but we have a double room B &B about 20 minutes away, if everything local is booked.
Don't roll with a pig in poo. You get covered in poo and the pig likes it.

That's great , many thanks Molehill . I'm booked in at the bunkhouse 9 miles up the road , but I think some club mates may come . I'll pass on the info .
