I'm not sure whether it would be totally effective but the advert said, "it boxes all the ticks!"

Only got 2 ticks but made up for it in midge bites (quite satisfying seeing the number drowned in the condensation on the inside of the fly sheet in the morning though ).

There's an interesting little article in New Scientist this week. Scientists at Plymouth Uni "asked students to estimate the steepness of a hill by tilting a board to match its slope. Students with a friend nearby assessed the hill at 10-15% less steep compared with those who were alone during the test. The longer the friends had known each other and the warmer their relationship, the less steep the hill appeared"

Another reason to run mountain marathons in pairs?!
