New carpets fitted today (not by me) - two doors required some drastic plaining (by me)

Moved into the newly finished living room to find that the coaxial cable wasnt giving any picture - guess who will be squeezing under the floorboards tomorrow to see whats gone wrong (clue - not the wife)

My print tray full of pebbles and fossils fell off the wall yesterday with a gigantic clatter and ensuing mayhem. I plan to put it up today...does that count as DIY? I will be mainly using rawlplugs and screws as opposed to the small tacks I used previously....

Don't forget to drill the hole slightly smaller than the plug, you should be having to hammer the plug gently to get it in the last half inch. Avoid, if you can, using the drill on hammer setting or your hole might end up bigger than expected; hammer setting is for concrete and brick.

I keep my minerals on an Ikea Laxvik glass shelf, dust is such a pain in the ar$e though!

Leak finding, water leaking from bathroom into kitchen. Not exactly DIY cos the leak stopped when i started looking for it

It's one of those chairs that was made from the top of a barrel, i call it a Stickback but i think technically the spindles on the backrest have to be unworked sticks for it to be bona fide.

Some nitwit who shall remain unidentified tried to fix it with filla and brackets; and then, having failed, ordered that it be chopped up for firewood. It's lucky i was up there on that weekend. I've had to clean up and painstakingly reset every single joint on it, including the mortice and tennans on the seat which were cut by the cooper who originally made the barrel. I've lost track of how many concealed wood screws there are in the seat, but they were all necessary, i braced it in a doorway with a scissor jack after each piece was glued back in.

Assembling the legs was tricky, i think the repair before last resulted in it being put together wrongly, as the wear on the feet did not reflect the leg position in a couple of cases. Unfortunately i've had to assemble the stretchers with a wood screw down the end of each one; this was to hold the joint in position more than anything as the glue was some fancy expanding stuff, but it'd be as well to leave the screws in i think. I'm just now waiting for the glue to cure on the spindle bottoms and she's ready to go! I've worked out that it's taken about 12hrs to rebuild, it's worth nothing full of wood screws but its a lovely addition to an old cottage and there it shall remain.
