    Best pre run/race food.

I had pasta three hours before my run last night but the pasta must have swelled up because it still felt heavy on my stomach. But i didnt get a stitch so i was ok, but i'd rather not have a heavy stomach.
So what do you all eat before you do you training and racing runs!

I always enjoy a healthy breakfast of beans and poached egg on toast before long
days out, seems to do the trick.

If it's a morning run I usually have porridge with either golden syrup or dried fruit.
Another favourite of mine is 2 slices of toast with honey on and a banana.

If a morning run a big bowl of porridge topped with all bran, gives me energy then clears me out for the race. The porridge is copying Paula.

If an afternoon race I normally have soup and 2 pieces of toast or a sanwich 3-4 hrs before the race. This is just a run over from my football days when soup and 2 pieces of toast 4 hrs before kick off was the staple food. Seems good so far. Always struggle to get it right for the long races which start at 11 ish. Normally get up early have porridge, then eat again maybe 2 hrs prior to the start.

Talking to CD at the 1000m peaks and was suprised how late he eats, but he also eats almost nothing in a long race. I'm not sure there is a generic right or wrong answer, just what works for you.

Cinnamon and raisin bagels toasted and if it's going to be a long day a can of cold rice pudding too.
