    proposed mergers

My club Ilkeston has for years been in decline and recently we have thought about merging with another club.

Just wondered if anyone has ever been in a club that merged with another one and what happened.

    Good or bad
So many runners out there but not many want to run in a club.

Ive started a beginners section and its going well but still we have low numbers , currently about 60

have any fell clubs ever merged in the past

Maybe you need to organise an 8pm run, I could come over and run then!

60 we're now under 50 members and most of those we never see!

We lost almost a third of our membership in the past year.

We were talking last night about we can get the membership back up and get the members of the club turning up to training and races?

Brett - you might want to reply to this given that Keighley Road Runners joined with Keighley Hill runners to form form Keighlkey P*ss heads a few yeara ago.

From my perspective as a newish member we have a thriving club with good vet, female and youth sections, a couple of times this year we have had around 60+ members out racing in different events on the same day, but I was not around for the days before the merge and the process that was followed.

    Tis not easy hopey

Ive really taken the bull by the horns and started a beginners program.

Tuesday night very steady and ive found that im building up a good ladies group which is def the way to build up members .
Ive got 6 x young ladies joined and they have def commented on how much they appreciated 2 / 3 weeks easy no pressure welcome to the club running to ease them in.

Apart from that we have discussed joining with our other local club AV Ac.

Which would mean our club maybe lose its identity

Wharfedale Harriers seem to be doing very well too up here. Does your club organize (m)any races Daz? Keighley & Wharfedale both have regular races; wonder if that's the key? The club I ran with with Liz in Sussex has shrunk over last few years and they organize one race only, albeit a well regarded one
