Fairy Freckled Cow Trail Race

Four of us from the club came and did this one (couldn't persuade anyone else to take on Moel y Gamelin!) and jolly nice it was too. Didn't have any problems finding the race as it was clearly "Alwen Reservoir" although I also thought we'd be out on the road after passing the "Caution" signs (maybe "caution, lost runners"?!).

A really enjoyable race with some nice prizes and a lovely T-Shirt. We're all going to wear ours at tomorrow night's training so everyone else thinks we've started a cult! God knows how Denbigh put all that on for 7 quid but thank you for doing it, you had some very satisfied customers and we might get a few more down for next year!

Maybe its a sneaky attempt to keep the race as a 'hidden gem' !

It's our secret! Seriously though, we're still on a learning curve but this is a great race and it could easily get a bit big a bit too quickly. The 'Caution Runners' (in Welsh and English) signs were intended to warn drivers that there was something going on, not necessarily that they were going to encounter runners on the road - however point taken - any other comments from anyone else?

Great undulating course, great scenery, friendly marshalls - the organisers even managed to lay on proper cross-country weather just before the start! For someone with an uncanny lack of sense of direction, the "Running Man" sign on the main road let me know I was in the right area, and the cadets were a big help. Not sure if us male half of the field can retain a "hard man of the trails" image while wearing the t-shirt, though!

The T-shirt..the picture..I'm no expert, but it all looks a bit "Fell Pony" pink to me.

can't believe I forgot to mention the yoghurt - scoffed mine (gooseberry) last night and it was ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS!

As a Pony myself, I wasn't confident enough to order a full-on pink vest, but I will wear my Freckled Cow T-shirt with pride!

Lady Slugge (hitherto almost exclusively a road runner) is now an enthusiastic convert to trail races, and I have an evil plan to send her out on a Cat C FR to see if she notices/complains...

on the Denbigh Harriers website there is a pdf of the results, but it only contains one page (listing down to 40th place)

does anybody know if this is going to be fixed/updated at some point...?

It was working! I'll get onto the webmeister to see if he can fix it - I remember you were 100th but will have to look up your time!

Glad you enjoyed the race - I'm thinking of organising a proper fell race from the same venue - how about on a cold snowy winter's day?

also not sure why a 2Mb pdf is necessary for a single page of results surely an xls or txt file (or separate webpage) would suffice
I do actually know my position/time, but I like to collect all the full results from my races
