Who to see for my knee

When I run longer distances I get a sharp pain in my knee. It doesn’t happen on shorter runs.
I’m suspecting it may be because my ankle doesn’t flex properly as it has metal plates in and therefore my knee is over compensating or something like that.
If it is my assumption is the best person to see a GP/physio or someone that makes orthotics?

Probably best to start with a physio Novice. If you post where you are someone might be able to recommend a local person to see

A further question, I'm not going to be able to get it sorted before the weekend, is there any point in buying a knee support if it is due to the metal plates in my ankle?
