I found this on the internet http://www.swisswebcams.ch/english/w...wid=1045500451
Bavarian Alps, honest!
Yes
but only as combined high mountain walks and via feratta / klettersteig.
If you are interested in these then try to get
Kletterstieg- Scrambles in the Northern limestone alps ( cicerone) It is now a bit old but still good as a start.
can recommend routes 38 Schonfeldspitze, 41 Persailhorn with continuation onto Mitterhorn and Briethorn and Reimann Hut
Also if you are near by Traunstein- the Naturfreundsteig now has a new route a bit further along the track and through 3 long tunnels. Went up that and down the Hernlesteig route. They had also just put up a new feratta ( about 4 years ago now, grade D. Starts at top of Hernlerstieg route and goes straight up to Gmunden hut. ( if you carry up some wood they will give you a drink)
Let me know if this appeals and you want more help
Karen
I've got that guide, will be staying near Berchtesgaden is it far to drive round to Traunstein?
How busy are the klettersteig, I'm going lightweight and won't be using huts if the longer klettersteig are busy may give them a miss as I don't want to get stuck behind slower parties.
Also planning on walk 68 in walking in the Bavarian Alps, its down as a 3 day trip would like to do it in one depending on the time of the first ferry to St Bartholoma.

Ohh - you just missed this: http://www.bergmarathon.at/
(Some english info here: http://www.positive-ecology.org/spor...athon2008.html )
The Traunstein is beautiful - you're making me homesick now!
Don't worry - Gmunden (weather permitting) is a very family friendly place should they not want to join you on a 70km jaunt!! Fab cafe's, a beautiful lake (& public swimming bath on the shores!), boat hire, steam boats, shopping...
Berchtesgarden - Gmunden: 67 miles, about 1 hours 20 mins according to multimap
