Thanks for that - Considering the muddy conditions (and there's no suitable drop out point if things go wrong) I think I'll save it till next summer and do the Cheshire ring over two days.

Hiya! Can anyone suggest a good cyclo cross bike? Thinking about buying one next year, I want a bike that can do road races, cyclo cross and make a good winter trainer.
Please let me know your thoughts/ reasons, cheers, Steve.
You want this,

Cuz it's unique!
Oh wow! Just spent a good 10 mins staring at that! The Uncle john cross build is more the price i was thinking along the lines of, but i don't want to buy just yet and could talk myself into the On-One just because it looks like it could get to fun places! I have a friend who rides an On-One 29er MTB (single speed!) and swears by it. Thanks for the link.
There's another 10 mins grinning at the On-one. Could be in trouble.
Plenty of bicycles for me this week.
Sat - 40odd up to Skipton, over to Barden, Bolton Abbey, back back back road to Ilkley (bugger of a hill up to Langbar!), Cow and Calf and home.
Sun - 25miles flat east of Leeds (flet completely shagged!)
Tue - 1hour up to Crosshills and back in the dark. Only the 1 near death experience. I've got reflective stuff everywhere, flashing like a Christmas tree and still TDITG (the dickhead in the golf) decided to pull out in front of me. There was a gap of approximately 100m behind me to the next car. Why or why oh why do they do this....?
Thu - 45mins in the cellar. Lovely stuff. Its starting to smell a bit down there now.
Plenty of hills planned for the weekend around Halifax/Hebden Bridge but hopefully I'll be back moving along on two legs rather than 2 wheels soon. I really enjoy cycling but I'm never going to be good enough to compete and its the competition I'm really missing now.

Cheshire ring was a good choice. Beautiful day Wednesday. Clocked 70ml from Preston Brook anticlockwise and back from Romiley. Only 50 on Wednesday including ride to Romiley, and weather wasn't nearly as bad as forecast.
40 in the Ribble Valley this morning, had intended heading up to Ribblehead but had things to do. Anyone know of a skull cap with ear muffs that fits under a helmet??
