when using a bike flight bag do you need to notify airline or will it go on as a normal case? looking forward to some great trails

Oversized luggage, you'll want to allow a bit more time at the airport to deal with it. Not usually much admittedly.

I'd check with your airline with regards to bike policy, it's been a while since I've flown with a bike. But I've had airlines where the bike went FOC, and airlines where it cost extra.

You'll also want to check to see whether bike carriage is guaranteed. I've been told before (by the airline)that if there's not enough room in the hold, my bike won't go. (Almost certainly wouldn't happen)

Who are you flying with? I flew to France last year a circuitous trip admittedly but turns out I could get my bike there but not home again! I had already booked my flight tickets then had to ring another number to book the bike on. As I couldn't get it home again I ended up hiring one - what a disaster, some heavy trek thing that I had to peddle to get it to go DOWN hill!!

The budget airlines you book them on at point of booking online. There is an additional charge (no surprise) but I'd certainly recommend you try and find out you can get your bike in the hold on BOTH directions of travel!

18 miles and finally back over 18 average. Only taken me 2 years to get back to that! 800' of climb so a bit lumpy but nothing too much.

Never had a bike nicked. Even with an insurance payout still reckon I'd be gutted.

If only for the reminder of some of the scrotes that exist by thieving from others.

Wet ride this morning, over to Silsden from Menston, on to Kildwick, up to Skipton then Grassington, over the tops to Greenhow and back via Otley.

Even though it was wet all the way, it was still shorts and t-shirt weather!

shaun i would have been gutted but they took the bike that i had a collision with a car couple weeks back and the frame is bent at the steering block it felt as if you were riding a rocking horse plus the wheels needed changing so by the time thats all done i could of had new bike this way im not paying for it
