    Hip injury

I landed heavily on a straight leg when it went down a pothole last week. Hurt at the time for a few minutes but I could carry on running and it seemed OK. Since then it has got worse, lots of pain all round hip, and I can't extend the leg backwards so walking with a limp. A quick scan on t'internet suggestst it might be a cracked pelvis, but I'm hoping it is just soft tissue injury. Anyone had anything similar? I know I should go to the Docs with this but I'm going to rest and ice it this weekend, oh and not do Kentmere . Bugger.

    Re: Hip injury

Back in March I had an impact injury to my hip after colliding with a stationary rubbish bin during a road race. I thought the hip could be cracked, but the doctor suggested instead that it was more likely that the tissue or lining surrounding the bone was badly bruised or disrupted, due to the sudden compression. I was told to mobilise the hip as much as possible, to keep running in spite of the pain, in order that scar tissue that formed would align correctly. Anti-inflammatories were also prescribed and it was suggested that that this injury would be slow to heal, and that I would feel it for months to come. It's almost fixed itself now, but I'm also missing Kentmere, not having run for three weeks due to a different injury, but that's another story...

Thanks Andy. I think mine is similar. I was panicking a bit becasue it was so painful, and I did not RICE it nearly as soon as I should have done. It is much better today after (some) rest and icing yesterday. Might even take it for an easy run next week - it's actually easyier to run on it than walk on it but starts to ache pretty soon.
    Cheers

Bad luck, Grouse. I had a hip injury back in April which forced me to retire from the Calderdale Hike early on. Plenty of hip stretching exercises seemed to get rid of it, which I did every day (and still do now) first thing in the morning and last thing at night.

Hope you're going to be fit for the 15 Trigs...?! Get well soon.

Mark. I think it is actually a bad groin strain and seems to be improving apace. Might even try to get out with the Harriers on Thursday. worse thing is that it is very painful to lie down with so have had very litte sleep this week! Will certainly need to get some miles in the legs for the 15 trigs

    See you soon.
