    Conditions

Took a run over an upland area I have not visited for some time (Mynydd Maen) and was shocked at how wet everything was. Not just standing water but new spring lines all over the place. And the bracken had a, well, peaky appearance. It looked like it had had a tough growing season. Wotsit like in your neck o'the woods??

    Re: Conditions

On Monday morning the saddle between Pen y Ghent and Plover Hill was just as boggy and muddy as I've seen it in the middle of winter....... and that's boggy at its boggiest. Last night too I was running through waterlogged fields in places where I'm not sure I can ever recall them being waterlogged before, winter or summer.

    So its wet

Boulsworth Hill is very wet - just seems to rain every day! I gather that Kilnsey show was knee deep in mud.

Back early from our camping trip due to kid's rebellion due to the weather.

And it was so dry at the end of May as well. I remember going past Kilnsey Crag (on t'other side of the valley) on the Yoredale 100 and there wasn't a vestige of moisture to be seen. My shoes were as clean after 100 miles as they were at the start. Rugger Ramble (yes, the slow one) a couple of weeks later was almost as dry as well. What a difference 3 months and a grotty "summer" can make.

"Very Boggy" is standard for Bowland. The beloved homeland is currently in "peak" condition - what was ankle deep is now knee deep and what was knee deep now chills the crown jewels!

I was amazed how autumnal the woods looked and felt on this morning's run. Quite a few leaves on the ground and that wonderful 'nutty' smell in the air too; presumably due to lack of sunshine over the 'summer'.
