    I can just about find 50 items in the Howgills that have at least one contour around them. I suspect the mileage and climb involved would be large.
    Why not do as FMA said, your own 49 mile route somewhere? It will have to be quite runnable with not too many hills if you want to do it under 12 hours.

    That Howgill idea sounds interesting Yiannis - I shall have to do some MemoryMapping.

    ...mind you, I do like the beer drinking idea as well

    I did a route called the Harvey Howgill Tops some years ago which was the 37named tops on the Harvey map. That was 50 km and 3500m of ascent. That was do-able within 12 hours. Well it was then, not sure I could manage it now!

    I seem to recall Hugh Symonds getting round that one in around 4hours 45minutes, about 20 years ago?

    I think Hugh Symonds' route was the Howgill 1500ft tops, which may be slightly different (?)

    ....50km eh? That's a handy number....
