    Wasdale Head Show

On Saturday the 11th of October its Wasdale Head Show. The senior race is short and sharp and is an absolute classic, going straight to the top of Kirk Fell and back which is 2.5 miles with 2400 foot of climbing. The action starts at 3. The junior races go up Kirk Fell too, just not to the top.
Fitness can't be stored. It must be earned over and over, indefinitely.

Do the junior races also come down the fell after they don't quite get to the top?

It is just my bad fortune on this occasion that the first time in a few years it doesn't clash with the FRA relays I am badly off form and undertrained.

It is a fabulous route and a great challenge.

Hey, great forum name for discussing THIS race!

When I did it, a few years back , Joss Naylor was in the finish field and said it was the funniest sprint finish he'd ever seen. The two leaders got over the wall almost together but across the finish field only one of them could actually run...

I shall save the blushes of the one who couldn't - I was MUCH further back but I did manage a sort of crippledshuffle across that field...

Unfortunately it clashs with Langdales - I've always fancied a crack at this one, but it will have to wait for a while I think
