Keswick to cat bells + onwards

Right as uni likes to make you spend as little time there as possible but still take more than 3 grand off you, ive got quite a long christmas break.

So i had an idea today. Since im yet to even fun up a fell its about time i did.

So seeing as i love the lake district and i know the top end around keswick fairly well, i thought i might as well have a go up there.

As i cant drive id catch the bus from preston to keswick and set off and run.

I had in mind to first head up cat bells, maiden moor, high spy and then i dont know where.

Can anybody tell me roughly how to get to the start of cat bells from keswick town centre, where to go after ive reached high spy.....or, any other route you'd maybe suggest for me.

    Thankyou

Why not have a run around the Anniversary Waltz route from Stair?

11.5 miles with 3600' of ascent. Allow 3 hours(ish), check race results on website to perhaps give your more of an idea of time.

The classic way of doing that circuit from Keswick is to get the motor launch across Derwentwater to Hawse End but you might have problems fitting it in with the winter timetable.

Yeah i was thinking doing that because otherwise its 4.4 miles from keswick to the start. Thats 8.8 on the 11.5 miles as it is, and i doubt i'd be able to do the 20 miles it would be if i was to run all of it.....ive only ever run 10 miles

Re: Keswick to cat bells + onw

I may have to scrap doing it in christmas because the bus i was planning to use has stopped until feb.

I could either catch the bus from preston to lancaster, then another from lancaster to kewsick.
Or i could catch the train from preston to windermere, and then get on the bus to keswick.
    Bloody public transport.

So nee bother, u may see me.....im an 18 year old, glasses and ill probably be looking lost after ive past High Spy
