    Digital camera

Went to buy a digital camera today and was looking at this deal in Jessops...

    http://www.jessops.com/Products/Prod...me-_-DOTW_x875

But I was really surprised when the lady in the shop said that the battery life is only 1 day between charges. Apparently most new digital cameras are like this??? Is this true? How do people take their cameras camping etc?

Advice on cameras and battery life would be gratefully received!

    Cheers,

    Rob

I've got a Canon iXUS (do all cameras have silly names?) and the battery lasts for months when not being used.

I have a Nikon and the battery life is great (rechargeable).

My daughter has a Canon Ixus and that has great battery life too, plus it is better in low light, meaning a faster shutter speed and less blur when photographing runners.

I am a big fan of the Canon Ixus SLRs.

After recommendations from several friends at work I bought a Canon from the Canon Outlet seller on eBay. It's got 12 month manufacturers warranty & was a good bit cheaper than other sellers.

My camera takes two 2500mA AA rechargeable batteries & they last for weeks.

Dr. Bob, my reply is out of sync.
Just buy a l'espion from digitaldream, about £19.00, including software, USB cable, instructions, keyring & carrying case. About 2 weeks battery life if full (20 exposures), lightweight ( the battery weighs more than the unit ), 6 X 4 cm. the facility for about 20 seconds of video if required.
    Regards,
    Max.

Take the batteries out when not in use - they can't drain that way, use good rechargables [2000+] and keep 2 to 3 sets. Shouldn't have a problem then.

Not correct. All rechargeable batteries will self discharge over time. The higher the capacity, the faster the self discharge. In my experience the best rechargeable batteries are Uniross Hybrio.
