    OMM Top Tips

I know some of you will want to keep your very best trick firmly up your sleeve but how about sharing some mountain marathon tricks of the trade to make our passage through the hills this weekend a little more comfortable.

My two for starters are :-

    - take a pork pie and a sachet of brown sauce as a special 'real food' treat to scoff whilst you're preparing your pot noodles. It's just what the body needs (assuming you're not a veggie) after a day in the hills eating sugar.

    - take 2 plastic bags to wear over your dry socks inside your wet shoes while you squelch around the overnight camp looking for the loo.

Wear our dry socks inside the plastic bags overnight - then put the wet ones back on in the morning..... dry ones being lighter to carry
When all else fails and your soul needs a lift - head to the hills

Custard powder is loaded with carbs, easy to eat and you can't get lighter calories. Combined with some maltloaf if you need something to chew. Makes a good alternative to your pie.

The carrier bags for feet are also essential. Use them as drybags for your clothes on day 1

A dollop of vaseline wrapped in cling film for your feet, crotch etc on day 2. Some foot tape too.

Ibruprofen for breakfast if your not worried about your stomach.

Don't buy the 2008 merchandise, wait six months or so and it'll be half-price.

take a couple of minature bottles of whisky, then pour it into your hot mug of chocolate at night, with being a bit dehydrated it gets straight into your system and numbs everything and ensures a really good nights sleep.
