    Yorkshire / Lancashire

I just wondered if the Yorkshire / Lancashire thing as a bit deeper on the Yorkshire side than we tend to think it is. I personally have only seen it as friendly banter.
The reason I ask is that we had the Witton Relays at the weekend and had a fantastic turnout from Lancs Clubs with over 300 runners involved and not one Yorkshire club.
That's despite lots of support from contacts I have in Yorkshire Clubs, particularly the junior side.

The one exception - Dave Woodhead - and was taking pictures.

Unfortunately, most of our usual suspects were running at the West Yorkshire Schools XC meeting on Saturday. I know they also had a similar meeting for the South Yorkshire schools as well. Can't speak for the North of the county, but they're a breed apart anyway....!!
Ian Roberts Fell Race. Dare you take on the Marsden Moor Tussocks? There's cake in it for you

Add in the YVAA race, Rombalds Stride, Dewsbury 10k....

Who wants the hassle of having to mount an expedition to cross the border anyway when you can stay on the correct side of the border and run?

I'd also say that I don't often see many Lancs clubs at similar relays over here - Danefield, Golden Acre, Washburn, Badgerstone etc...

Bunny's - There's always Lancs runners over there.
Schools race granted - but the local runners had Lancs Schools as well and quite a few of the top runners ran both days.
SEniors is understandable if they have some local race options but there's not many options for juniors to do events like this.

Are there races in Lancashire? That's just great. I'm always happy to support the lesser counties in an attempt to get things off the ground.
