    GPX file - Total ascent

I took my motorbike GPS with me on yesterdays run over my local hills. I've extracted the GPX track file from it and it shows the altitude at each point. Does anyone know of any tools on which I can work out the total ascent of the run?

I can import it into memory map, but I can't find the total ascent figure.

    TIA

When you have imported into MM, right click the route and select properties. If not there, right click properties and choose convert to route and then try properties again.

Re: GPX file - Total ascent

Thanks for the pointer Ady. I faffed about with this earlier both with the Garmin and MM software and gave up. I have come back to it and found that the GPX file is in text format, so I can just write a small script to extract the numbers and add them up....

I think the main problem with the MM software is that I just had my GPS data. I don't have any altitude data for the map I was using.
