Clintons softly softly democratic party approach in the 90's didn't do any good. All the planning for 9-11 happened during his period in charge so being nice to everyone don't work either.
But Clinton reduced the national debt a hell of a lot unlike the bushmeister but the one thing that America is going to come unstuck with is the fact that they are running out of places to have a NEXT war. The senate are not going to keep bowing down and just handing out money crazily like in the past.

true Daz.........looks like the Russians are spoiling for one mind

Odd the US won the cold war by being able to spend more cash than the furry hat wearing russians.
Now the ruskies have all the cash and the yanks are looking down the back of the cash for quarters

Its my belief that the Yanks will always hold the aces. True countries are catching up but you have to realise even the likes of china and india, there currencies arnt worth jack shit. They all want dollars. And America is the biggest market in the world.
The yanks always will be able to say to the world ( you need us more than we need you) . Thats why we always have to bow down to them.

Dazza, no one mentioned colour until you did.
Of course, there's no denying he has different skin colour than any other previous president but my reason for rejoicing is for the boost to democracy. His candidature has enfranchised vast numbers of citizens who previously felt disenfranchised (through no fault of their own). Everyones future is intimately connected to our ability to get along with one another in an increasingly shrinking world and I think this outcome is a very positive step in that direction.

I stayed up for it...any one else?
Come on you was clearly relating to one of the greatest moments in history as being the first black president.
The man is mixed race. I hate the word black. White even for that matter.

Maybe, but he's changed the face of politics in his country - he's got young people out to vote, he's got minorities of all types out to vote, he's changed the face of previously unwinnable Republican states and, most importantly, he's led the strengthening of Senate and Congress in the Democrats' favour, so he will actually be able to get things done, instead of arguing the toss for ever in Washington.

It's going to be an interesting 4 years!

There was the same sort of enthusiasm when Blair was elected in 1997 and look what a w**ker he turned out to be

obama i feel is more of an assasin's target, just because of his colour alone. However, still a landmark moment to say the least, Martin luther king would be smiling with victory
