    Beast Banks Challenge

Climb the equivalent of Everest on Saturday 22nd November in Kendal.
This is a charity event run in conjunction with the kendal Mountain Festival.
Perhaps the Everest equivalent of 177 ascents of Beast Banks (one of Helm Hill Runners favourite winter training hills) is a bit beyond most of us but this could make a good team relay event. I know there is already some interest amongst local fell runners to do this. Anyone interested http://www.mountainfilm.co.uk/specia...vents.cfm?id=9

Sounds like a severe case of hill reps!

    Re: Beast Banks Challenge

Helm Hill Runners seem to have volunteered to take part in this challenge on the basis that each runner will be sponsored on the day by shoppers and other onlookers. "We will run on your behalf if you part with some cash"
Any one wish to join us?
You can do as many or as few climbs as you wish, just bring your club vests for identification purposes and we will do the rest!
For those that need an incentive there are pubs at the top and bottom of Beast Banks

Might come up with the kids... hoping they might take a bit more interest in exercise!

What, you mean you are only running to the Rifleman's? You will need to do that a few more than 177 times, more like 250!

Do you have to drink a pint at the top and bottom?

New sport suggestion: Extreme Pub Crawling!!

Imagine the effort that would go into a good 10-pint session between these two?

Forgot. There is the Black Swan at the bottom of Beast Banks if you manage to get past Wetherspoons
I believe the event starts from the "Bird cage" on the main street but as to how far up the hill it goes we will find out.
Remember its all in aid of charity and participation can only benefit the public image of fell runners

    We Climbed Everest

Thanks to all who took part and helped raise a large sum for charity.
Don't have the stats available but I believe Danny Parkinson of Kendal AAC topped the list with 31 reps.
