    Hey, newbie here

    just wanted to say hello.
Im Scott, i ran my first fell race this morning, when i gave the Gravy Pud a go. I have to say i am delighted to have finished, cause it was so hard, how do i get training in for races like that.
My finishing time couldn't have been much worst, but at least the only way is up from here.
Feeling great now and feel like ive accomplished something, so gonna try a 4mile fell race in glossop on the 28th and see how i go from there.
Anyhow its great to be a part of all this.

    Well done!

Dont worry yourself too much about not getting a finishing to you can be proud of, its only your first race so from now onwards just use that as a marker post.
We all (well most of us) find it bloody hard so dont worry about that - one tip is to learn when its best to run the hills, or start walking instead as you often over-take people who are running.

As for training, i run on muddy fields mainly as i cant get to the fells to easily. I think if i didnt have the country-side just out-side my doorstep i would be alot slower and alot less fit.

    Best of luck!

    Welcome Sir

Glad you enjoyed today its a cracking race, sadly didn't make it myself this year.

Living in Hadfield you should have no problems getting onto the hills to train - you could even do the GP5 route as a regular run to see how you progress (assuming its all public access of course).

    The main thing is enjoy!!!!

Watch out for tubs and edwards - and avoid the local shop.

Thanks i really appreciate the feedback, gonna start going up them hills as often as poss.
Yeah im lucky living Hadfield, you can't go 100 yards without meeting some hills, so ive no excuses.

Gonna do another fell race on the 28th, it quickly gets in the blood.
