    Re: Giant's Tooth - New Year's

First race for 30 years, top half finish and a sub 25 min time (23.34). I'll settle for that after just 12 weeks training. Trouble is, despite feeling like death at the finish, I now want to do it again. I take it this is normal. Fantastic to see so many turning out. Well done all.

    Re: Giant's Tooth - New Year's

I thought the conditions were quite difficult today and in the circumstances Quentin Lewis' winning time of 17.18 was pretty good. He is a regular competitor at Ogden Water and well done on getting a win.

Annabel Mason was the first lady last year aged only fourteen and one year on, her win today was in a fabulous course record of 18.18.

One runner (in her first fell race) took a mistaken detour over the fence and onto the open moor, losing a lot of time so it won't have been the most pleasant experience. I hope you are okay.

Nice one, Sir. I was in at 55. Not bad considering I started from (almost) the very back of the field. I'd run it again tomorrow if it was on. Absolutely loved it and will be entering some more events.

You were running in my spray pretty much....and there was a heck of a lot of that. How about the Windmill Whizz in March. Starts from the same place but goes on a gentle meander over the moor for 7 miles (round the back of the windmills). There might even be spring lambs and sunshine and that.

Tell me about it. I was wet and muddy within a few strides of the start.

That's one for the calendar. It's the week before the first Lakeland Trails race so will be just perfect. As for sunshine in March. You're 'avin a laugh incha. This is Yorkshire.

Thanks to the organisers & marshalls for today. I really did enjoy this race, my first race since October after a 2 month layoff. Already looking forward to doing it again next year.

Wouldn't mind a go at this in March and a s long as the weather is no worse than what it was today, I'm sure I'll enjoy it.

Another amazing performance from Annabel Mason...only a minute behind the winner. Not be long before she wins a senior race outright (I know Annabel's won some BOFRA under 17 races outright..to the horror of some of the lads!).

Well done to Chris and co for sorting the results so quickly.

But for ascent, it's more accurate to count contour lines than to rely on a Garmin. Call me Old School ....
    Hi Old School,
At least Garmin's are consistently inaccurate. It's comforting to run alongside someone of the New School and hear their Garmins chime the K markers (or miles for you Old School types) at the same time as one's own.
