Best: Moving to the Peak District
Worst: Only getting in 3 races this year
Best: Moving to the Peak District
Worst: Only getting in 3 races this year
Worst: nothing really worth mentioning... maybe missing out on running the Penmaenpool 10M trail race with Lady Slugge - had been really looking forward to it, but kiboshed due to collapse of baby-sitting arrangements, plus appalling weather.
Best: far too many to sensibly pick one, so:
Race-Related, a) almost feeling like I knew what I was doing at Cracken Edge.
Race-Related, b) breaking into the top 70% of finishers for the first time (at Lantern Pike)
Non-Race-Related, a) on a solo BG Leg4 recce, arriving at Dore Head for the first time in my life, and laughing out loud at how awesome the views were in ALL directions
Non-Race-Related, b) on a recce of BG Leg1 (with Irish Carol - Hi Carol!), arriving on Mungrisdale Common for the first time in my life, and realising why Wainwright had put it in his guides
Best: Completing the 3ppp Cyclocross in memory of my late Dad with tears in my eyes, finishing 28 fell races as opposed to finishing 4 the year before, all the friends i've met this year (including that Coniston Old Man run, Al), Mini Merrylegs winning his first ever fell race
Worst: Depression, personal problems, other folks personal problems, that fact that i ain't stopped smoking yet
All in all, a dammed good year really
Hills and Guinness!
Best: The OMM
Worst: The OMM
worst
being in the car accident and having to miss a few runs including the mini mountain marathon!
best
becoming a new fell runner and in the space of a few months meeting some great peeps and running with them, increasing my fitness, not to mention doing the pendle tour as my first long race
go play on the m 6, now, how does that sound
Best - Rab Mountain Marathon, great location, great weather and my first ever win at anything (that wasn't a luck of the draw competition) or Ennerdale Horseshoe. What an amazing route of a race! Breathtaking in more ways than one. Smiling for weeks afterwards.
Worst - Dropping out of HPM with a knackered ankle (only DNF), following months off in a cast followed by probably coming back a bit fast and still having a dodgy ankle 9 months later.
Worst - realising I still had washing up liquid in my camelback whilst doing the buttermere skyline in august.
Best - completing my 1st marathon, Beachy Head, in under 4 hrs, in one piece. And the subsequent pb's that have followed. (If any 'newbies' out there are toying with the idea of a marathon, just do it!)
Great thread.... keep them coming
Best Doing the Duddon Valley Race, my first long as it was 6 miles further than I'd run anywhere ever before.
Worst Heck, nothing really, just having to work I suppose
If liberty means anything at all, it means the right to tell people what they do not want to hear.

Best-The Ben Race,i ran i think the best i have ever done in a race and it made me realise that training can get you faster, going to put that into good use this coming year ,after my winter break that is
And also being a part of a succesfull BG attempt and joining a club
Worst-Dropping out of Mourne Peaks race due to ankle going, but the piss up more than made up for it
