Hi all,

When I was in Southampton from Aug 1997 to Oct 2000 I ran regularly with Southampton Running Club. Good club. Fell running seemed unheard of.
Hi
I've joined Southampton Running Club - yes they are a great club, but as you say, they don't participate in fell running, and I would like to do that too!

Some decent(ish) hills just up the way from you in Winchester/Petersfield area so should find some good routes -you just need to persuade your new clubmates to see the light!!
That would be like the blind leading the blind!
Probably the nearest club to you that does any fell running at all is even further south than you are.... Ryde Harriers on the Isle of Wight! They organise a fell race weekend in September, and may do other hilly off-road running at other times. Can't imagine they travel much for proper fell races.
Thanks for that Stevie
A little put off by the long swim through busy shipping channel!

Stef - I'm down the road from you near Chichester and run or bike on the South Downs when I get the chance. The IOW races are well worth it but there is also the Butser Hill race in September each year just up the A3. I doubt you will find a fell club as there are no true fells down here. But we do have great off road running and it's easy to clock up several hundred metres of ascent on a run. Keep your eyes on the forum as, now I'm back on line, I tend to post info on hilly or off road races in my area. BoxHill in January is also worth a look.
Thanks Downsman
Will keep an eye on the posts. Where would I find the info for Boxhill?
