I'm thinking about it, last did it on my 50th birthday, dont think its been held last couple of years because of poor weather.
It's a good a race as any to get the new year started with, quite testing but not too far a distance

A bit of a duathlon for me, train from Leeds to Halifax ,cycle up to Ogden and then back to 'Fax.

I'm hoping to get across there. Didn't get to any races last w/e so it will be nice to blow the cobwebs off - though if this wind continues it may be more than cobwebs that get blown away! Haven't done this before. Is it all runnable or some very steep ascents/desents? No need to tell me it will be muddy/semi-submerged, I can guess that.

It is a tough winter challenge, 1200 ft of climb in 8 miles.

MAP HERE courtesy of John Mayall

Bring FULL WATERPROOF WHOLE BODY COVER. That windfarm wasn't built for it's striking looks !

Also, please car-share where possible. Double yellow lines have been painted on Ogden Lane and all the way up Syke Lane (the lane opposite the pub). Perhaps forumites could arrange to meet somewhere then share a lift to the venue?

RACE PARKING IS ON THE FIELD TO THE REAR OF THE CAUSEWAY FOOT PUB

The Ogden reservoir car parks will be chock full as usual...

Hope to see you there for another enjoyable morning out.

Should be a good turn out from Calder Valley as it's first championship race of 2012. A nice little warm up before our club do in the evening.

    Re: Ovenden Fell Race

A record turn out of 193 runners for this race today. It was very muddy which made it very hard going and there was alot of people landing on their ar*es on the descents. Great run by Karl in time of about 57 minutes and for Jo, who is coming back strongly after injury, in a time of 1 hour 7 minutes. Wharfedale took the mens team prize but it should have been Calder but for a certain young man from Tod who forgot to put his club down and was in the results as unattached. He deserves some plonker points for this!!!!! Calder ladies took the team with Jo 1st, Helen Fines 2nd and Anne Johnson 4th. Good to see the girls back on form.
