Thought you might be doing this one John, hopefully see you there. Just posted my entry a couple of days ago so don't know whether I'm in yet.

I don't see it as a race either, more of a walk/jog. Wasn't sure which section to post the thread under. I guessed that if I posted it under 'long distance challenges' then someone would say it wasn't really long distance.

What is the usual proportion of walkers to runners?

Really enjoyable run in January. Though the ground across the fields at the moment is very wet and muddy, the wettest I have ever seen. There is also a new cycle path which means you don't have to run along the main road near Levens. A friend talked to George, the former organiser recently and he said that they don't put a limit on runners taking part as they never eat the bacon butties or doughnuts!!!

I've just sent an entry to this - will be my first LDWA event but I've heard lots of good things. I'm just treating it as a long training run.

    Re: That's Lyth

Just back in from running round this today i reckon wet and muddy would sum it up, although that said it did not really seem that bad with only the usual tricky bits being slightly wetter.

Probably the worst new morrass is the the short section from Gilpin Bridge Totem pole to the lane, there are now 3 ponies in there that have turned it into bit of a quagmire.

Well done Sustrans the cycle path beside the 590 is a big improvement, but i wouldn`t fancy my chances if a car left the road and came down the banking, can we have a bit of armoco please.
