    FRA Junior Age Groups

If you are a member of the FRA, see page 96 of the 2009 Handbook, which is now in circulation. U8 must be over 6 on day of race. This is an important insurance issue for race organisers under FRA rules.
The option to run in U12 once over 10 has been removed. U10 on 1st Jan = U10 all year.
There is an age group calculator on the Championship Regulations page at http://www.felljunior.org.uk/FRAJunior

Other organisations e.g. BOFRA, Kendal Winter League may have different junior age group rules, which generally are published on their web sites.

    Re: FRA Junior Age Groups

I've just had a look on the BOFRA site and can't see anywhere what the age cuts offs are ie is it U9 on the day of the race, U9 on jan 1st before the race etc. Anyone know?
Also how do the BOFRA U9 races compare to the FRA U8/ U10 races in terms of distance/ severity?

Thanks for any info . Our kids really enjoy the FRA junior races- mainly because of the excellent ammount of goodies they usually get

    FRom BOFRA website

Runners will compete in the age category determined by their age on 17 May 2008 and remain in that category for the whole of the 2008 season. Example:

    Child b(25/3/94) is 14 on 17/5/08 = Under 17 category
    Child b(6/6/94) is 13 on 17/5/08 = Under 14 category
    Child b(17/5/94) is 14 on 17/5/08 = Under 17 category
Where an event does not include an under 9's race, then the child may enter the under 12's race at their parents discretion and at their own risk.

This was 2008 - so 2009 will be the same but 17th May 2009!
