As this year 3P's will be a first for me, just wondered if more experienced folk had any thoughts on approx climbing totals per week to get round the PPP ?
cheers

As long as you don't live in a bungalow you should be OK
More about getting your legs used to 4-5 hours non stop and as long as you do some sort of climbing in your weekly routine you should be fine.
cheers....though slightly disappointed I haven't got to beast myself on some horrendous amount of climbing per week...still, it may keep injury at bay !
( I get the distinct impression that this challenge isn't regarded by many people as the tough prospect I took it for !
being new to sport i was kinda hoping it would present the same sort of test as other stuff I'd recently done like 3Pcx, IM Lanza, F Whitton or Snowdon marathon...but i guess these might also be no problem to some
I guess the range in peoples abilities is as wide as the range of challenges !?
ps I do live in a bungalow !!!!!
Hills and Guinness!
I'd say that Ady has understated the climbs taken as a whole and Whernside in particular. The whole route is around 5,200 feet of climb. Pen y Ghent is easy and so is Ingleborough in theory... if you momentarily forget the fact that you've run 17 miles and up and down two peaks before hand. The climb up Whernside though will be a killer unless you get some hill climbing in - in the race (well in my end of the race) the top of Whernside is a battlefield with dead and dying (okay heavily cramped up) runners sprawled all around the checkpoint area
Expect cramp on Whernside and again on Ingleborough.
