And remenber fell racing and fell running aren't necessarily the same thing. To run in the fells all you need is some fell shoes and a hill or two.

It'll be a fun run - maybe we can take it turns to run down a hill with the piglit watching demonstrating 'our technique'
Mine broadly follows the well worn cliche of 'brakes off, brain off' by the way. That said: Keep your eyes firmly focused on the ground 7 to 10 feet ahead and DON'T. LOOK. UP.
Thats a good point - and pray that you dont have wierd eyes that want to stream like the amazon as you decend, so much so that you cannot see where you are going and whilst flying down the fell you have to take your specs off and wipe your eyes - alternatively try to wipe the tears away with a muddy finger - but risk getting the finger skewered in the eyes!.....
Glad this thread is still going as I'd be interested in getting out for some beginners meets.

Adlington, near Rivington. I'm a member of Lostock AC and get out with them on Wednesday eves. Wouldn't mind getting out a bit more on the weekends. Only been fell running since Autumn and still a bit wary of going out on my own anywhere I'm not familiar with, my navigation requires work, (I'm on the reserve list for the FRA course for March if anybody drops out). So if these beginners meets happen that'd be good.
