    FRA/Club help for beginners

Question: Do you think clubs/ FRA could/should do anymore to help beginners to the sport?

If someone Googles 'fellrunning' then the FRA site is the top of the list - easy so far...
They can then come on to the forum, look through all the advice and post questions - still easy...
The very helpful forumites will reply with loads of good advice -still easy!

Then comes the hard bit... they've got to start running ...sorry but nobody's giving piggy backs!

Actually, I was looking to start some hill sessions in a month or so's time, with weight. Was gonna be a rucksack with the stack of unclaimed prints next to the printer in the office...but I suppose a newbie on the back would be an option?

They can carry my water bottle and feed it into my mouth when I need it. How's that for a hydration system?

I could do with a porter for the Fellsman if you're interested in the job!

On the "Join The FRA" bit on this website it says

Fell running is perhaps unique amongst sports in that it does not seek to attract ever greater numbers of participants.

I wondered what one was to make of that. The more paranoid and less able could feel this meant they were as welcome as a fart in a space suit, but it'll take more than a subtle hint to stop me!

It's running up and down hills.

If anyone needs help with that then its probably beyond them

Might help if you said what "help" you were after mate.

I've not actually been out on the fells running myself yet as I'm still building up to it, I'm nearly there tho. Ive joined this site as well.....obviously.....and Ive just been accepted at a localish club and I can't wait to attend there training runs.
For me personally, the hardest part of this running lark is dragging my arse thru the door and out into the street......unfortunately no one can help you with that
