Don't some races (like Edale Skyline) turn away Pertex? Its a nightmare this rule, very difficult to find a definite answer on what qualifies.

I'm using the Inov8 shell kit from Pete Blands, pleased with it so far.

Yeomans (the camping shop) do some 'isotex' waterproofs and leggings - although they are obviously not up to gore tex standard they are cheap and tick all the boxes ie labelled as waterproof with taped seams, light and cheap. not bad at all actually, but I'm not sure I would have wanted to use mine at Edale today.
