    hello,
would anyone recommend this as a good introductory fell race?
my time for a hilly ten miler is arround 85mins, and after checking out last years results im fairly confident i can keep the pace, but is the navigation difficult?

I'd say yes this is a good introductory fell race, not too much climb, easy navigation - follow the crowds, the edge, the tapes. The only tricky place is over Kinder Low, but it's not all that tricky.

It's very handy to have run the route beforehand, especially incase it's misty. The only difficulty will be over Kinder Low, and here it'd be handy to know the bearing you should be heading on - people have gone down Kinderlow End or off East towards Grindslow Knoll in the past!

I would second that. You should definitely know your bearing from the trig point (or that large cairn) if it is misty.

And, the route from Kinderlow trig to Edale Rocks, is past Edale Rocks & to the left/South-East side of Swine's Back - the aim is to have a marshal in place to direct folks on this route. Although, if it's misty you may not see the marshal or any defining features!!

Last year the marshal was there to instruct us to punch our numbers with one of several orienteering punches that were there.

Fairly certain it will be the same set up this year; different marshal, as last years intends to run this years race!

I sent in my entry a couple of weeks ago. This one fills up to the race limit doesn't it?
