Distance from last years race was 15.64km although I did manage to trail a Buxton runner who knew all of the short-cuts. I did log the ascent from my Suunto but can't find it anywhere... seem to remember it was about 1700ft

Garmin 305 gave 9.8 miles which agrees with nikalas' 15.64K.
Gave climb as 2820' but Sport Tracks "smoothed" this down to 2040'.

Have you been to the Hayfield races website.

Can post a link or just google it for the course profile (9.6mi, 1971ft).

Have just entered the kinder downfall (hopefully). Is this a race where previous reccying is advisable?, or is the route 'relatively' easy to follow?
    any advice would be welcome.

    thanks
You can lead a horse to water....
