    Inter Counties XC - Nottingham

I will be down at this again with WPette - she's in the Lancs U15G team. Outside team medal chance for them.

Looking forward to seeing the whole days events. Senior Men - GM would be favourites if they all trap - with Lancs a medal chance.

Sky Sports usually cover this, but just checked the listings and I cannot see it listed there

All the manky indoor stuff we have to tolerate and it seems we lose one of the best covered events in the calendar where juniors get full coverage as well as the seniors.

A real shame for athletics if that is the case.

Yes found it now - I checked out the Sky website on Monday and it wasn't showing.

Excellent. I will be there but always good to watch it back.

It could be argued that the Inter Counties has now surpassed the National in terms of prestige.
Basically because in all age groups this race attracts all the best runners and also the Scots / Welsh / N. Ireland and it is also the selection race for the World XC.
    Many skip the National.

Persoanlly I feel it's a shame. I would make the National the trial race.

For juniors, the English Schools is perhaps even ranked above the Inter Counties.

For my money, I'll take my hat off to a medal winner in any of the 3 events.

I would advise Mstr Knox to start positive - a good start is key - especially in the juniors. Not many come from behind at Nottingham.

The Nationals are an English championship with unlimited fields.

The inter-counties is a limited field race incorporating both the English counties and the Scottish, Welsh and Northern Irish athletes.

The English National can also include English Club athletes from other countries who would not be elibible to represent GB and NI at the World championships.

I think most of us would Witton. I reckon The National is still 'the' classic cross country event.

Fit or not, I look forward to it every year. Maybe it's because it has so much history, maybe it's because every great British distance runner has competed there over the years, maybe it’s because it's such a great club event. What ever it is The National is the dogs b*llocks.

Watch out for Tom Addison as well as James Knox. Both from Helm Hill and representing us fell runners in the flatlands.

Is that Mel Hyder from Helm Hill?
