    Running in Norway!

    Hi, I was wondering if anyone could give me any info on hill running in Norway, i'm moving there over the summer for 3 months (studying up at Tromso Uni)? Nobody has been able to tell me much so far, but I was assuming it would be quite a big thing. I'm from Glencoe, so i'm used to some fairly rough terrian, just hope they don't think i'm mad when I try and run in the hills!!

    Thanks, don't really enjoy the uphill part of races though, the downhill is the best bit! Might give the skaala a shot, may as well try some races while i'm out there!

    Here's another classic sounding Norwegian race - and conveniently a week before Skaala. If you don't like uphill races then don't race in Norway as I believe a massive percentage of them are uphill only - a shame!!

    I did Skaala last year and definately a classic, tough uphill race - if you do it you'll see how strong the Norwegians are uphill - from 16 year old girls and boys to vet 70's - all storming to the summit!

    I can attest to the fact that they don't think much of downhill running in Norway, perhaps not as much the Germans who allegedly wanted to ban it (ie have uphill only races), but not that popular all the same.

    I did Skaala in 2004 and had a great time blasting down after the finish - lots of strange looks from all and sundry.

    Still a great race though.

    This seems to be the site to go to for endurance sports. I think they organise Skaala.

    Uphill = physical
    Downhill = mental

    Thoughts anyone?
