    Puma Trailfox Hawkshead Trail

2nd Puma Trailfox Hawkshead Trail Race on 28th April (BM 9.3 miles, 1460') - entries close this Friday 9th March. There will be no late entries accepted after this date, and no entries on the day.

Details from the event website www.lakelandtrails.org

The Puma Trailfox Garburn Trail Race on 3rd June is over 75% full, so if you fancy running "the most scenic race in Britain" (according to Runnersworld magazine), you better enter pretty soon.

I wonder why the moderator has pushed this thread off the "Fell Race" section ?

It is registered with the FRA, it is in the FRA calendar and everything.

I'm pretty certain the moderator has never done this race, and I'm also pretty sure he or she couldn't run all the climbs either. It may not be a "pure" fell race - it's certainly tainted by having the UK's best distance runners taking part, as well as catering for the less experienced hill runners who don't have the necessary navigation and mountain skills to take part in a "pure" fell race.

However, like more than 70% of the races registered with the FRA, it IS a fell race (B Medium) and deserves to go back to the "Fell Race" section of the forum.

    Rant over.

Because he knows it winds you up, is my guess.

Mind you, if you are that upset about it, my tip is changing it to the Hawkshead Fell Race. Clue's in the name.

These are the sort of races I'd love to run but, at coming up 75, I'd be on a hiding for nothing because the veteran categories appear to finish at Vet 60. I'm not prepared to shell out £11 just to make the numbers up. So come on, you organisers, let's have a full range of categories to keep us wrinklies up and running. You know it makes sense!

I'm struggling to see the relevance of such a childish remark .

aren't Trail Runners courses marked with flags all the way? which is one of the selling points, fell race routes aren't marked to the same extent, so I would have thought emaphasing the difference was desirable.

    vive la difference!

Just checked my FRA fixture calander and this race is listed,
    So
assuming the book to be correct,
    Trailrunner has a valid point.

I've run fell races with far more flags than Hawkshead! Isn't it listed in the calendar, but not insured by FRA?

I doubt if there is any real distinction between many trail and fell races, or even some cross country races.

It just depends on what the organiser want to call his or her event.
