Is not right at this stage to mention how suitable the PUMA Trailfox off road shoe would be for the event? www.pumarunning.com I ran three of the races in this series last year and the PUMA Trailfox shoe was just the right choice. Offers grip, support and is very comfortable. Perfect for the job in hand!

Now, now RR, you are giving away the fact that they sponsor you and therefore your opinion on the shoe is worthless because you are totally biased!

Still can't understand the animosity towards this event. If you don't like it and think it's too expensive then don't bother. Simple!

I agree - the businesses in Hawkshead will be doing a roaring trade over the race weekend.

    Rip Off Price ??

For £11 you get : a great, well organised race. A quality, cotton colour finisher's T shirt (not so green as last year !). 30 marshals on the course and 2 water stations. A Brazilian Samba Drumming Band playing at the start and finish, entertaining both spectators and competitors. A Jazz Band playing at half way. A guest appearance by Beatrix Potter's Peter Rabbit (for the kids). A beer tent, PA commentary, food stalls and retail stands. A bouncy castle, 7.5m high climbing wall and face painting (all FREE to children entering the Peter Rabbit Fun Trails), spot prizes, £2000 worth of cash & sports goods in prizes. Professional photographers on the course. A huge Entertainment marquee for waiting family & spectators, portaloos, on site car parking.

The race is full anyway, so what does that say ?

Beer tent Dehydrated runners The Need to Drive.

How quick doe`s a dehydrated body shift Alcohol from the body of somebody daft enough to tempted to think one will do no Harm.

As to the ongoing debate it has now become very tedious but Graham has done a sterling job of keeping the thread on top.

By the way i run these events in NB road shoes that either says a lot for the shoes or makes the trails pretty un - fell like

    Just a couple of thoughts.

How many fell races give beer as prizes (or even just for finishing)? Or has trailrunning's mandate been extended to cover basic social responsiblity and road safety as well as climate change?

I personally love the lack of commercialism in all the fell races I have done. Entry rarely more than £3, meeting in random village halls/sailing clubs. Low key/lovely atmosphere and great people. Thats the appeal of fell running for me.

    I'm with you TF.

I think the animosity, antagonism, hostility and rancour directed at this race series is completely unwarranted, unjustified and uncalled for.
