I have seen a offer for Montrail Highlanders priced at £40 as opposed to the £64 for the inov8s i use ,is this a shoe worth buying?

Depends what you want to do with it. I bought a pair for long races only(over 18 Miles) have done two races so far and will be at Wuthering this week end. I think they are great. I have some mudclaws and a pair of Walshes which are great up to 15 miles and then my feet start to hurt.
I've been impressed with the grip, comfort and the quality and to be honest the only thing i could say bad about them was they are a little heavy, but you have to set a balance.
I'm thinking of buying another pair already at that price.
I've heard nothing but good reports about them; however I've got a protracted case of plantar fasciitis and the arch support in them really hits the painful spot when I wear them. What size are you? If they fit and you're interested I'd sell you mine (only worn twice.)
Let me know,
Cheers.
bugger - mine are 8 and a half.
I'll put them away and hope to sort out my PF.
i have worn mine for training and racing, and can't really fault them......apart from that they tend to hold on to water for a while longer than other fell shoes. also they can (and im going to sound like british rail here) clog up with the wrong type of mud , as a fellow runner put it to me....the kind of farmyard mud. great on anything else
thus....have bought another pair for the up-coming 3 peaks and other longer summer races, that ive got penciled in the diary
Hard Work, Hard Training and Suffering...Race Easy
Thanks for all the replies.
I think a call to Northern Runner is on the cards.
They're crap on wet limestone - but then again I think most shoes are
I bought a pair on Friday night, and wore them for the first time in the Wuthering Hike on Saturday morning
But came through relatively unscathed - a bit of rubbing on my little toes, and bruising on the outside of one foot by the top of the shoe, this should be solvable with one of those heel-only insoles.
In short - very impressed
