    Askham Fell Race

Doesn't seem to have been any forum interest in this one, but Ive been out with my camera so here is a link to the picieshttp://www.flickr.com/photos/ilw/set...7616249481795/

Appologies to those in second half of the field - it began to rain too much for my camera and my daughter so i had to scarper.

Excellent photos. I saw you below the final checkpoint just before the weather closed in. It was a great race, very well organised and hopefully the first of many more Askham fell races. Would you mind if i use one of the pictures for a blog i keep?

    A well Organised race .
A good introduction for those who are new to running in the lakes.
A great route my sort of fell race with a long gradual descent. Loved the steep climb basically crawling all the way up
Liked the section across the moor where there was some route choice I was able to pick some good lines and gain on others in front.
Although I had practice at this the week before at Midgely Moor
My only complaint was my dodgy stomache (over indulgence from the night before)
Third race in a row now where I have had a good finish
Thankyou to all organised the race it was a privilege and a joy to run in such a lovely Quiet part of lakes where not many go
    I will probably be back

Oh! my wife noticed that there was no water at the finish line

    Re: Thank-you Marshal.

Thanks to all who helped put this race on, very well organised and a really good addition to the calendar. I often run on Askham Fell so I was able to put my local knowledge to use by breaking away from the pack to take the lower line to the Cockpit. This allowed me to watch the pack pass in front of me and lose about two minutes in the process! Thanks again and see you next year.

    Any results pulished anywhere yet?

I had an poor race - couldnt get going at all until the final couple of miles.
Then today I cruise around a 17mile road run only 12 seconds a mile slower than my intended marathon pace. I think I should give up fell races and stick to BG style long days.

Bobert - why do you want a photo for the dog you keep? Oh sorry i misheard.

Is water compulsory? You'll be sadly disappointed at all my races!
Fitness can't be stored. It must be earned over and over, indefinitely.

Or perhaps, it is the long runs (making you good over longer distances) that is making it hard for you "to get going" over shorter distances.
